With today’s trend of people getting more conscious with their bodies, gadgets have been introduced in the market to monitor everything - from heart rate, cholesterol present in food, to even calorie intake and expenditure! Among these gadgets is the Bodybugg, a device that allows the user to track the calories he or she has burned and spent in relation to the calories of the food taken in. How does the Bodybugg work?
Upon purchasing the Bodybugg, set it up on a computer with Java application. Also, be reminded that the device can be operated only with a Windows system, which means it doesn’t work on Mac computers. Through the included USB cable, plug the Bodybugg into the PC. A tutorial of using the Bodybugg greets the user, after which a series of questions about the user’s goals, preferences when it comes to food and the like will be asked. After that, a subscription-based page with charts and guidelines will appear.

How to use the Bodybugg
After programming the Bodybugg, it can be used on the right arm. Ideally, it should be worn the whole day so that it could accurately monitor how many calories the user burns. Once it is removed for more than 15 minutes, the Bodybugg will let the user log what activities he or she has been doing since the device was not used. However, the user should update his or her information in the webpage everyday, so that progress can be monitored. The user will then update the page by plugging the Bodybugg into the computer by plugging the USB cord again, just like when it was first programmed. The user will then log the food items he or she ate that day. The updated information the user supplied will give him or her, in return, updated info on how many calories were burned or gained, depending on the amount of food taken, and therefore how closer the user is in achieving the goals he or she has inputted when the Bodybugg was programmed.
